Fruit and vegetable price growth slows down in Ukraine
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index has grown by just 0.8% in the week from January 30th to February 5th only thanks to a rise in prices of greenhouse vegetables, after an increase of 4.1% a week before.
«Last week prices of almost all produce categories (except greenhouse vegetables) slightly went down due to low internal market demand and sufficient supply», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. «A decrease in prices of potatoes and white cabbages should especially be mentioned, as it has been registered for the first time over long period».
Fruit prices went down by 4.6% thanks to less expensive bananas, oranges and mandarins. Potato prices decreased by 4.8%, and traditional vegetables became 5.7% less expensive. At the same time, prices of greenhouse vegetables went up by 9.6%.
