Fruit and vegetable prices up by 2.8% in Ukraine in January
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index shows a slight increase of 2.8% in prices of fruits and vegetables in January. Such an insignificant rise in prices is a result of a traditional decrease in the demand for fresh produce after the New Year and Christmas holidays.
Fruit-Inform analysts say of a decrease in prices of almost all fresh produce categories except greenhouse vegetables, which have become more expensive due to a seasonal factor.
In particular, prices of traditional vegetables went down by 2.9%, potatoes became 4.2% less expensive, and fruit prices decreased by 5.2%. At the same time, prices of greenhouse vegetables jumped by 15.8% in January 2016.
