Further decrease in Ukrainian fresh produce price index last week
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index has fallen by 5.2% in the week from February 13th to 19th, after a decrease of 2.3% a week before.
«Negative price trend was registered in all fresh produce categories last week», says Ms. Tetiana Getman, Head of Fruit-Inform. «Fruits made the largest contribution to a fall in the price index due to a decrease of 7.1% in their prices registered under the influence of low internal market demand for produce».
A further decrease in prices of traditional vegetables, such as white cabbages and carrots, due to regular imports should also be noted. An increase in onion prices was an exception in that case, and they grew thanks to higher exports. In addition, traditional vegetables again became less expensive with the most significant fall registered in tomato prices: -12.5% week-on-week.
