Polish AJC exports sharply down
Polish exports of apple juice concentrate (AJC) have sharply fallen year-on-year in the first half of the current season, according to portalspozywczy.pl.
Polish exporters sold almost 89,000 tons of AJC in August-December 2015, a decrease of 25% year-on-year.
The market participants say of especially significant fall in exports to North America. For example, the USA purchased just 9 tons of AJC from Poland in December 2015 against 5,400 tons in the same month of the previous year. Exports to Canada also went down considerably.
In addition, Polish exporters said of lower sales to the EU countries. For example, Germany purchased just 10,300 tons of AJC from Poland in December 2015, a decrease of 25% year-on-year. Polish exports to the UK went down by 11% to 2,000 tons, the Netherlands imported 1,300 tons of Polish AJC (13% lower), and exports to Austria totaled just 600 tons (a fall of 67% year-on-year).
At the same time, the Polish AJC market participants say of an increase in the demand for their produce in the Russian Federation. Russia's imports of AJC from Poland totaled 1,300 tons in December 2015, an increase of 30% year-on-year. Moreover, it should be noted that Poland's AJC exports to the Russian Federation did not exceed 1,000 kg in the end of 2013.
