Crimea: prices of early white cabbage half as high as last year
Prices of early white cabbage have sharply fallen in Crimea, according to Fruit-Inform and are almost half as high as registered in the same period of the previous season.
Prices have gone down by 35-40% over the past weekend and now vary between RUB 30-40/kg (USD 0.43-0.58/kg) at Krymskiy Privoz Wholesale Market, Simferopol. For comparison, they were not lower than RUB 50/kg (USD 0.72/kg) in the end of the past week.
The Crimean market participants connect a decrease in prices with a seasonal rise in the supply of early produce in the peninsula. It should also be noted that prices are 44-50% lower year-on-year, and the market participants expect a further decrease in them.
