Polish growers start their strawberry season
Polish farmers report of shipments of first volumes of domestic strawberries, according to FreshMarket.
As a result, the strawberry season started two weeks earlier than last year. Domestic supply is rather limited now, and prices average 4.55 euro/kg. For comparison, first volumes of domestic strawberries were offered at 4.30-4.90 euro/kg last year.
The market participants expect strawberry prices to be decreasing in the nearest time due to growing outputs. In addition, the market is under the pressure of stable shipments of less expensive imported produce. Now the Polish market participants also offer Greek and Spanish strawberries, which prices are not higher than 1.60-2.27 euro/kg.
