Ukrainian growers concerned about low demand for strawberries
The Ukrainian strawberry market has been characterized by a daily decrease in prices of greenhouse produce this week, according to Fruit-Inform.
For the present, sellers have already fixed their prices at UAH 20-30/kg (EUR 0.70-1.00/kg).
The supply of strawberries has been rapidly growing in the country; however, the demand for produce is rather moderate despite negative price trend.
Growers are seriously concerned about current market conditions, which force them to sharply reduce prices, which have fallen by 23% over the past day. It should be noted that last year mass arrival of field-grown strawberries was registered only after the May holidays; therefore, prices in the beginning of May 2015 were 5-6 times as high as present levels.
