Ukrainian fresh produce price index down again

Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index has fallen by another 11.6% in the week from May 28th to June 3rd, after a decrease of 5.1% a week before. As a result, fruit and vegetable prices have been decreasing in Ukraine for the 5th week in a row.

As a week before, negative price trend was observed in all fresh produce segments of the Ukrainian market with the most significant decrease in prices registered in the segment of traditional vegetables: down by 22.7% week-on-week due to an increase in the supply of early vegetables and their lower prices. A decrease of 17.2% in potato prices should also be noted.

As regards the segment of greenhouse vegetables, tomato prices were stable, while cucumber ones halved over a week due to lack of export demand and growing supply.

Fresh fruits became 1% less expensive week-on-week. A decrease of 10% in strawberry prices and 3.7% in banana ones was almost compensated by a sharp rise in prices of sweet cherries observed due to extremely high demand for them and their limited supply.

We would remind you that more detailed information about current developments in the Russian and Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market is available for the subscribers of Fruit-Inform service packages.
