Belarus leads in imports of Ukrainian apples in 2015/16
Belarus has become the leader in imports of apples from Ukraine in this season, according to Fruit-Inform.
Ukrainian apple exports totaled 10,200 tons in the period from July 2015 to April 2016, and Belarus accounted for about 78% of those volumes.
We would remind you that Russia has previously been the largest importer of apples of Ukrainian origin with the share of up to 98% in Ukraine's total annual exports, while Belarus traditionally accounted for no more than 2%.
However, Ukraine officially stopped exporting apples to Russia in the season 2015/16 due to the ban on imports there. Meanwhile, exports to Belarus significantly grew, and Belarus purchased almost 8,000 tons of Ukrainian apples in the first 10 months of the current season against just 500 tons in the same period of the previous season.
More detailed information about the Ukrainian apple sector development will be presented at the 6th International Conference «Apple Business of Ukraine-2016», which is to be held on August 11-12, 2016, Cherkasy, Ukraine.
