Kazakhstan: further decrease in apple imports
Kazakhstan has continued to reduce apple imports, which have fallen by another 20% in April 2016, according to Fruit-Inform.
They totaled just 13,000 tons against 16,000 tons of imports in April 2015.
Kazakhstan's cumulative imports of apples in the period from July 2015 to April 2016 totaled just 77,000 tons, a decrease of 36% year-on-year. The EU countries accounted for about 65% of those volumes with Poland as the leading supplier: 47,000 tons, or 61% of total imports. Meanwhile, it should be noted that Polish apple exports to Kazakhstan went down by 22% year-on-year.
China ranked second with the share of 20% in Kazakhstan's total imports of apples. China's exports were stable compared with the previous season and totaled 15,000 tons.
Moldova was the third largest supplier of apples with the share of 11% despite a fall of 68% in imports of Moldovan apples, which totaled 8,000 tons.
