Fruit and vegetable prices down by 25.7% in Ukraine in May
Fruit-Inform Ukrainian fresh produce price index has fallen by 25.7% in May 2016 under the influence of a seasonal increase in the supply of early produce. The price index was also decreasing in May 2015, and a decline in prices stood at 38.6% at that moment.
Greenhouse and traditional vegetables made the largest contribution to a decrease in the price index in May 2016 thanks to 38% lower prices. A year before, greenhouse vegetables were becoming less expensive more rapidly (-58%), while a decrease in prices of traditional vegetables stood at 31%. Potatoes became 21.4% less expensive in May 2016 against a decrease of 22.7% in prices a year before.
Fruit prices went down just by 5.2% in May 2016, while in the same month of the previous year a decrease in their prices stood at 25.8%.
