Poland to significantly increase vegetable production in 2016
Central Statistical Office of Poland expects vegetable production to significantly increase in 2016, according sadyogrody.pl.
Polish vegetable production is expected to reach 4.4 mln tons, an increase of 17% year-on-year with the sharpest increase to be observed in the cauliflower segment: up by 22% to 236,000 tons.
Production of traditional vegetables will almost reach 2.8 mln tons, a rise of 18% compared with 2015. In particular, Polish growers are expected to harvest more than 1 mln tons of white cabbage (+17%), 346,000 tons of table beets (+17%), 346,000 tons of carrots (+17%) and 630,000 tons of onions (+15%).
Cucumber production will grow by 19% to 263,000 tons, and harvested volumes of tomatoes will be 10% higher than total 260,000 tons.
The market analysts connect a rise in Polish vegetable production with more favorable weather conditions this year.
