Ukraine: potato prices down week-on-week in Kiev and Odessa
Sellers from wholesale markets of Kiev and Odessa, Ukraine, have been reducing their potato prices, according to Fruit-Inform.
In the meantime, potatoes are offered at UAH 3.70-4.20/kg (EUR 0.13-0.15/kg), depending on shipment volume and quality, at Stolychnyi Wholesale Market, Kiev, a decrease of 12-13% week-on-week. However, it should be noted that prices have not changed year-on-year there.
Sellers from Pochatok Wholesale Market, Odessa, reduced their prices more significantly. Now they offer their potatoes at UAH 3-5/kg (EUR 0.10-0.17/kg), a decrease of 25% week-on-week and 14-17% lower year-on-year.
Negative pricing trend is also registered at Shuvar Wholesale Market, Lviv. However, prices have gone down there just by UAH 0.10/kg over a week and now vary between UAH 3.50-4.00/kg (EUR 0.12-0.14/kg), a decrease of 14-17% year-on-year.
Prices at Nezhdanna Wholesale Market, Kherson Oblast, are relatively stable week-on-week and vary between UAH 3.80-4.00/kg (EUR 0.13-0.14/kg). We would remind you that prices stood at least at UAH 3/kg there in the same period of the previous season.
The Ukrainian market operators connect a decrease in prices with rather low potato trading activity against a background of growing supply, as farmers have actively selling their stocks after a warm spell.
