Ukraine: prices of early white cabbage twice as high as last year
Ukrainian farmers have been gradually reducing their prices of early white cabbage, according to Fruit-Inform. Nevertheless, they are still 60-70% higher year-on-year.
In the meantime, prices of domestic early white cabbage vary between UAH 25-30/kg (EUR 0.87-1.05/kg) in Ukraine, a decrease of 21% week-on-week due to several reasons. In the first instance, negative trend is connected with steadily growing supply of early produce thanks to higher number of farms that have started their season in Zakarpattia Oblast. In addition, prices are affected by competition with imported early white cabbage of Macedonian origin.
Nevertheless, it should be noted that prices did not exceed UAH 18/kg in the same period of the previous season. However, the market analysts expect negative pricing trend to intensify in the Ukrainian market in the nearest time after weather conditions return to normal.
