Crimean cherry campaign starts
Crimean growers have recently started picking their early cherries, according to Fruit-Inform.
In particular, local cherries are now offered at RUB 180-200/kg (USD 3.18-3.53/kg) at Krymsky Privoz Wholesale Market, Simferopol, and the supply is still limited.
It should be noted that the price range was wider in the end of May 2016: RUB 140-220/kg. Such a situation is connected with the start of negative pricing trend in the segment of early cherries in the same period of the past year and simultaneous arrival of more expensive middle-season varieties.
This year the Crimean cherry campaign started two weeks later than usual due to cold spring, and growers expect the supply of cherries to grow only in the first half of June.
