Ukrainian processors start procuring apples
Ukrainian processors have started buying raw apples, according to Fruit-Inform, and purchase prices are significantly higher compared with a year before.
Now apples for processing are offered at UAH 3.00-3.80/kg (EUR 0.10-0.13/kg), depending on a sales region and shipment volume. For comparison, prices varied between UAH 1.15-1.80/kg (EUR 0.04-0.06/kg) in the same period of the previous season. The Ukrainian market participants connect such a price difference with an increase in processors’ demand for raw apples and their limited supply.
It should be noted that processors are now unsatisfied with the price levels and their purchase volumes are not high.
We would remind you that similar situation is now observed in the Polish market, where prices of apples for processing have been rapidly growing and already reached EUR 0.15-0.18/kg.
