Ukrainian growers forced to reduce watermelon prices
Despite close end of the Ukrainian watermelon season, farmers are forced to reduce their prices. According to Fruit-Inform, watermelons have become about 25% less expensive in Ukraine since the beginning of this week.
Now growers are ready to sell their watermelons at 0.08-0.14 euro/kg against no lower than 0.13 euro/kg just a week before.
The Ukrainian market participants connect negative trend with several factors. In particular, an increase in watermelon prices registered in Ukraine last week has negatively affected sales rates. Meanwhile, buyers are more often unsatisfied with the quality of watermelons in the Ukrainian market.
Nevertheless, despite a rather sharp week-on-week decrease in prices, they are still 5 times as high as a year before.
