Ukraine: banana prices continue to grow
Ukrainian bananas keep on showing positive price trend, reports Fruit-Inform referring to the daily monitoring data.
According to experts, over this week banana prices in the Ukrainian market have grown by 19-20%. Therefore, now traders offer their produce at UAH 32-36/kg (EUR 0.92-1.04/kg).
As before, market players link such a trend in Ukraine with a rise in price of bananas in the external market. As a result, now these fruits are 60% more expensive than in the first half of January 2017.
Meanwhile, experts admit that price growth rates in the Ukrainian banana market can significantly slow down in the nearest time. They explain it by the negative impact of price growth on the demand. Wholesale companies and retail chains have sufficiently reduced their purchase volumes referring to low retail sales rates. As a result, traders report of rather large stocks of unsold quantities of bananas, which quality has been rapidly deteriorating.
