Ukraine: apple prices stable despite active demand
Although the demand for apples showed a significant rise in the Ukrainian market, positive trend in sales rates did not lead to the price growth, reports Fruit-Inform.
According to market players, the demand for Ukrainian apples shown by retail chains, wholesale companies and exporters is rather high. Nevertheless, any growers’ attempts to raise their prices negatively affect sales rates.
As a result, as a week before, apple prices vary between UAH 9-15/kg (EUR 0.26-0.43/kg), depending on variety, quality and size. However, current prices of these fruits in Ukraine are 90-130% higher compared to the beginning of February 2017. Moreover, many growers plan to raise their apple prices if sales rates remain at the same level.
