Ukraine: carrot and red beet prices up
Ukrainian farmers continue to raise their carrot and red beet prices. Hence, their prices have tripled compared to the same date of 2017, reports Fruit-Inform.
In particular, now carrot prices vary between UAH 4-6/kg (EUR 0.12-0.18/kg), a 17% rise against the previous week. As for red beets, their prices marked a growth rate of 8-11% to UAH 4.5-6/kg (EUR 0.13-0.18/kg) and higher.
According to industry experts, growers manage to raise their prices in view of rather limited supply in the carrot and red beet market. Moreover, sales rates in this segment remain quite high, with red beets being in the strongest demand.
As a result, now carrot prices are twice as high as in the middle of February 2017, while those of red beets show a 270% surge compared to the last year’s level. In addition, growers are confident of further price growth in this segment, as the stocks of produce keep on running low rapidly.
