Polish frozen blackcurrant exports valued at 17 mln euro in 2017
In 2017 Poland again managed to retain position of the global leader in exports of frozen blackcurrants, which were valued at 17 mln euro, reports Fruit-Inform referring to Freshmarket.
According to the Central Statistical Office of Poland (GUS), last year Polish companies exported about 40,000 tons of frozen blackcurrants to 60 countries of the world.
Belarus was the main importer with the import volumes totaling 14,300 tons. Belarus was followed by the EU countries, such as Germany (9,500 tons), the Netherlands (3,000 tons) and Belgium (2,400 tons).
It should be noted that Ukrainian berry market experts consider blackcurrants as one of the most promising segments. As of today, blackcurrants are among top five most grown berry crops in Ukrainian farms.
