Anti-monopoly committee recommended some regions to lift grain movement restrictions

Ukraine's Anti-Monopoly Committee (AMKU) recommended local authorities not to take to restrictions for grain removals from the regions.

Following the recommendations of AMKU the authorities of Dnepropetrovsk and Kharkov Oblasts have already declared they are lifting restrictions for removal of grain outside of the regional borders. The same decisions are now expected to be made by managerial bodies of Zaporozhye, Kirovograd, Poltava, Sumy, Ternopol and Chernigov Oblasts.

Besides, the Committee has put barrier to the unlawful actions of the State Company "Khlib Ukrainy", which distorted competition on the grain market. The company, possessing a large number of grain elevators, began to accept the new crop grain for storage only from direct producers, unlawfully depriving of such opportunity hundreds of other categories of grain owners. According to the AMKU press-service, after relevant interference of the Committee, the situation has been normalised.

Commenting on the current grain market situation, the Head of the Committee Oleksiy Kostusev said: "There are lots of grain and flour in Ukraine now. Therefore, there is no need to interfere with the market processes and regulate something which can work in accordance with market and competition laws."
