Sunoil prices in Ukraine increased, bringing up the prices for resulting products

According to APK-Inform data, last week offer prices for crude sunflower oil reached some 4,050 hryvnias per tonne or $763 per tonne (EXW), increasing on average by about $28 per tonne from the week before. During this period prices for sunoil-based products (margarines, mayonnaise, deodorised oil) were lifted by producers, since the raw material had become more expensive.

Prises for bottled oil and mayonnaise of small producers went up a week before.

Analysts say that as a result of margarine products getting more expensive, bakery, confectionary and some dairy products, which use margarine as raw material, may also rise in prise.

At the same time, margarine producers consider the possibility of reducing the production costs and consequently - the prices for the end products by using cheaper alternative oils. Some companies have already been using rape oil, which could be bought at $603 per tonne (EXW), instead of sunflower oil.
