Maximum price for Khaltsedon onion variety raised up to USD $ 0.18/kg
Monitoring of Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market conducted by Agricultural Marketing Project on a regular basis, shows some onion price growth, despite of the record onion harvest this year. This week the cases became frequent when onion of the most common for Ukraine variety "Khaltsedon" was sold for USD $ 0.18 on terms of self transportation from farms even of those oblasts where onion prices are traditionally minimal. Minimum declared rate of wholesale onion prices has not gone down lower than USD $ 0.11/kg, and average price was USD $ 0.12/kg.
The analysts associate high onion price with total trend of price growth for food commodities in Ukraine, as well as with low quality of newly harvested onion.
AMP information: the largest onion suppliers on Ukrainian market are Odesa, Cherkasy and Kyrovograd oblasts, common part of commodity production in which is up to 21%, and part of supplies is nearly 60%.
