Kuchma hopes that five-year land sales-purchase transactions moratorium will be reviewed

Ukraine's President Leonid Kuchma hopes that the Parliament will review the five-year sales-purchase transaction moratorium stipulated by the Land Code. This Code bans sales of any land so far.

This was his statement to the local mass media as of December 18th in Kyiv.

Talking about apprehension about permits to sell land, which may result in massive plots of land being bought by foreigners, the President remarked that " a foreigner has no right to buy farm land, even if this farmland he happens to inherit."

Leonid Kuchma declared his strong confidence in the necessity of the Land Code to be the one, where "people, who work the land, own it."
