The season of home provisions preserves the price level on cabbage but does not save the carrot market
As Market Information Specialists of Agricultural Marketing Project inform, the demand on cabbage is rather high throughout Ukraine despite of the great supply; it is explained by the continuous purchases of this commodity by population for home provisions. It helps to preserve the price level, despite the evident cabbage overproduction obvious this year.
At the same time demand on carrot remains unsatisfactory that leads to the permanent pressure on prices for this commodity. The prices on carrot remain on such a low level that some farmers considered it economically unviable to harvest carrot form fields. Nevertheless, carrot supply on market remains relatively great, and consumers point out the sufficiently high quality of the supplied commodity.
According to the experts' evaluations, in January demand on cabbage may decrease sufficiently, that may lead to some price decrease on this commodity. The situation with supply and demand of carrot, probably, won't change much.
