The numbers of cattle and hogs in Ukraine dropped from last year

As of January 1, 2005 the number of cattle, kept by all categories of Ukrainian cattle breeders, made 7.16 million heads, which is 7.3 percent less than year ago, the State Statistics Committee has informed.

The number of cattle dropped 6.2 percent from the beginning of 2004 - to 4.06 million heads.

The number of hogs in Ukraine dropped 9.3 percent from January 1 last year - to 6.64 million heads.

The number of poultry, however, increased 8.2 percent from that of year ago - to 154 million heads (there were 142.4 million heads as of January 1, 2004).

The number of sheep and goats in Ukraine is reported at 1.78 million heads, which is 4.3 percent less than the number as of January 1, 2004.
