Fruit and vegetable processing sector grows more intensively than other branches of food industry
State Statistics Committee continues concluding results of the economics work in the previous year. It is pleasant to say that the information of high rates of Ukrainian food industry growth is confirmed. So, annual markup as for volume increase of processed fruits and vegetables was 20.3%; the increase of production volumes for the food industry of Ukraine in the whole was only about 12.4% in 2004.
The higher growth rates, than for production of processed fruits and vegetables, were observed only in the milk sector (20.7%) that, by the way, was one of the reasons for the deficit of raw milk on the market and led to the significant price increase. It is also informed that some growth was obvious in grain and flour (15.9%), drinks (15.7%). The production growth was also observed in meat (on 15.3%), tobacco (on 15%) and confectionary (12.5%) sectors of food industry. At the same time, according to information provided by State Statistics Committee, this year the enterprises of ethyl spirit production from fermentative materials, and also producers of macaroni and sugar have not achieved the production level of 2003.
