In the first decade of March 2005 the price growth on livestock commodities and vegetables continued in Ukraine

In the first decade of March 2005 the further price increase on livestock products including the processed milk and meat commodities, as it was reported by the Department of PR and Press of the Ministry of Economics of Ukraine.

In particular, according to the data of the price monitoring conducted by the bodies of the State Price Control, in the period within 02/28/2005 - 03/10/2005 the average retail prices increased - on 1.6% on beef, on 1.7% on pork, on 2.3% on fat, on 1.3% on the backed sausages,1st grade, on 0.5% on milk, on 0.5% on butter and on 0.4% on sour-cream.

The trend of the price increase on chicken meat - on 3.2% - is also observed.

At the same time the growth of the average prices on chicken eggs (up to 2%) is recorded in view of the significant price decrease on this commodity observed in the previous month (down to 20%).

The rates of price growth on the vegetable commodities slowed down in the first decade of March comparing to February. So the average price levels have increased - on 1.1% on potato, on 17.6% on cabbage, on 3.4% on carrot, on 4.5% on red beets and on 6.1% on onion.

As it was mentioned by the Ministry of Economics, with the account of the unbalanced demand and supply in some segments of the consumer market the dynamics of the consumer prices during the first decade of March 2005 presupposes the possible further retail price increase on the main food commodities.
