Minimum sugar prices to be continued
The VR Committee on issues of Agrarian Policy and Land Transactions did not suggest canceling the minimum prices for sugar. The only discussion there was, was the discussion on possibilities to lower the minimum price.
Kateryna Vashchouk, the Chief of the said Committee, said that even lowering the said price is no solution as payments for sugar beets produced by the farmer were maid at a basis price for sugar which was UAH 2,370 /Mt.
At the same time Mrs. Vashchouk believes that it is necessary to "scrupulously monitor" prices for sugar on the domestic market to take into consideration received data while setting up minimum price for next season's sugar.
