On the wholesale Kyiv market the prices on cucumber, early cabbage, carrot and radish increased
Before the Easter holidays the demand on fresh vegetables and fruits continues growing on Kyiv wholesale market. Such rapid demand jump is traditionally leading to the wholesale price increase; so this year the prices grew significantly as well.
Today the growth of the wholesale price continued for the products of high demand - cucumber, early cabbage, carrot and radish. It was reported by Alexander Skrebets, the Price Monitoring Specialist of Agricultural Marketing Project; however, the upper price limit on tomatoes went down a little cause the supply of this commodity increased significantly today.
Early cabbage grew expensive most evidently; yesterday it can be bought on USD $ 1.78/kg and even cheaper, and today only on USD $ 2.18/kg. The prices on long and short greenhouse cucumbers jumped up, today they were sold on USD $ 2.37-2.77/kg. The price on carrot has also grown as the supply decreased a little.
Some price decrease on tomatoes, to the analysts' opinion, was caused both by the supply growth and the strengthening of hryvnya rate. As before, the major part of tomatoes sold on the wholesale Kyiv market is imported to Ukraine from Turkey. We'd also mention that as usual Turkish tomatoes are sold on cheaper price than Ukrainian; but the demand on the national commodities is higher, despite of the less affordable price.
