Russia: bird flue found in Novosibirsk Oblast

In Novosibirsk Oblast, Russia, a bird flue case was found, reported Emergency Ministry of Russia. On June 21 there was seen a poultry murrain case. The examination results showed presence of bird flue virus A H5.

The Ministry official said anti-epidemic measures have been already applied in Novosibirsk Oblast.

There were no cases reported of human infection with bird flue.

Bird flue is a bird infection, which is brought on by A type flue strain. According to World Health Organization, highly pathogenous are strains H5 and H7. But human infection cases have ever happened with H5N1, H7N7 and H9N7 strains.

Now in Novosibirsk Oblast poultry breeding farms are on the alert and under strict control.
