Is the world largest supermarket chain Wal-Mart coming to Ukrainian border?

In the report of American consulting company A.T. Kerney Ukraine jumped up from 11th to the third place of the world retail attractive list according to the Global index of retail trade. The information about the increasing activities of the hugest foreign retail chains on Ukrainian market started to appear again. In particular, it has been mentioned once more that American retail giant Wal-Mart bolstered its preparations to enter Ukrainian market.

At the same time the Executive Director of Wal-Mart company stated in the beginning of this year that he finds Russia, Poland and Hungary the most attractive for the chain. Still, it was said before the report was published. This week the interest of Wal-Mart was proved by the information mentioned in Hungarian periodical Nepszabadsag, it said, that Wal-Mart plans to purchase the local supermarket chain Cora in October. Cora chain is owned by Belgium-French company Louis Delhaize. Seven hypermarkets and several supermarkets form the chain. If the deal is done, Wal-Mart will come close to the border of Ukraine.

To this moment Wal-Mart owns supermarkets in 11 countries: the USA, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Germany and the Great Britain. In total the company manages more than 5 thousands of supermarkets and plans to extend actively its international chain.
