Ukrainian strawberry appeared on market in the second half of October
Despite of the fact that the traditional strawberry production season was finished in Ukraine early July, strawberry of national origin appeared on Kyiv markets once more mid October. Today on Kyiv wholesale market Farmer strawberry was actively sold on USD 2-2.4/kg; as vendors say, it is supplied from Chernivtsi.
In many world countries strawberry production season is not limited by 1-2 months as it is in Ukraine; there are new varieties of this crop able to fruit during 4 and more seasons. The interest to such technologies has been grown in Ukraine recently; still new approaches are not widely applied.
During the second international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2005" authoritative experts will talk about new opportunities of traditional crops production, as well as the perspectives of the production and sales for totally new, niche vegetables, fruits and berries in Ukraine. The conference will be combined with the international produce exhibition to be held in Kyiv on December 5th-7th, 2005.
