AMP monitoring - starting from September onion has grown 41% expensive, carrot - 18%, apples - 82%

The end of fruit and vegetable harvesting season led to the traditional price increase on Ukrainian markets. The Agricultural Marketing Project conducts daily price monitoring on three wholesale produce markets of Ukraine - Farmer market in Kyiv, Kopani market in Kherson oblast and Shuvar market in Lviv. The average price changes on major fruits and vegetables on September 1st - October 20th are shown in the table.

The most dramatic price changes are recorded for tomatoes and cucumbers that is a natural result of the finished supplies of field commodities and started greenhouse production. Onion grew expensive much, as the supply shortened on market as a result of large onion volumes left for storage. Most of all the specialists worry about increased potato prices that are very untypical for the current season. Potato price growth is caused by bad harvest in the country, as we've informed several times already.

Considerable apple price increase can be explained by winter varieties supplies of higher quality, which are sold more expensive.
