Agricultural profitability in Ukraine
UNIAN reported that farming in Ukraine was profitable in 2001 through grain production and sunflower production.
State Statistics Committee revealed figures where grain production had 42% profitability (in 2000 this level was 64.8%), sunflower production had 67.6% profitability (in 2000 this level was 52.2%). Amongst the crops which proved marginal were sugar beets with only 1% profitability on the average (2000 - 6.1%) where some 12 individual Oblasts could not even break even with this crop. Vegetable and potatoes production was also a loss.
