Ukrainian farmers criticise Agrarian Policy Ministry

Ukrainian farmers are unhappy with the activities of Agrarian Policy Ministry, as managerial officials of Association of Farmers and Private Landowners of Ukraine (AFZU) said to a news conference on Thursday.

In particular, the private farmers, who this body claims to be representing, do not like the ministry's idea about creation of large agricultural enterprises, as they believe such type of organisations to be inefficient in current conditions of Ukrainian village.

"The minister votes for creation of "neo-kolkhozes" - large enterprises, which will be employing quite a few people. And what will the rest (of the rural inhabitants) doing?", asks Deputy Head of the Association Leonid Kyrychenko.

Also, AFZU believes that financial support of the farmers in Ukraine remains insufficient and inefficient.

The Association Head Ivan Tomych has been arguing that today's agrarian policy of Ukraine requires major changes. According to him, these should not be limited solely to replacement of the minister.
