National Greenhouse Complexes Have Started Harvesting Cucumbers
According to information provided to "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly journal by national greenhouse complexes, some of them have already started their cucumber harvest. Several separate farms harvested cucumbers last week and this week more farms will begin also. The volume of cucumbers is too currently too small to influence the cucumber prices in the market. Greenhouse complexes are presently more focused on supermarket sales channels where they can get higher prices. As of today, Ukrainian cucumbers are sold for between $2.70-3.50/kg in retail stores and Turkish cucumbers are offered on wholesale market for $2.30-2.70/kg.
In the next couple weeks national greenhouse complexes will begin to harvest much larger volumes of cucumbers; and in the opinion of greenhouse managers, cucumber prices will tend to gradually decrease in February.
