Carrot, potato, cabbage and red beets supply can increase on Ukrainian market in March
According to the information provided by the Price Monitoring Service of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly journal, the supply of root crops and white cabbage can increase in the nearest weeks. Supply growth will be possible only when the period of severe frost comes to an end. Frosts hinder vegetable transportation; many clamps and piles cannot be opened. There were messages about practically no cabbage, red beets, potato and carrot left in storages; despite of that, farmers and some wholesalers still have pretty large stocks of these commodities. The situation with white cabbage is the best; this product reserves are larger than root beets stocks, according to the evaluations of the Agricultural Marketing Project.
Supply growth of these products will be observed in March and April on market, as to the experts' assessments; it will hardly decrease the wholesale and retail vegetable prices as the demand seems to exceed the supply. At the same time, supply growth can be a serious factor controlling the further vegetable price increase.
