Russia will vaccinate poultry against bird flu
Russia's agriculture minister Aleksey Gordeyev, speaking to the upper chamber of Russian parliament (Federation Council), has responded to a question concerning bird flu situation in Russia saying that the task has been set in the spring 2006 to have vaccinated all the poultry flocks in the places, indicated by veterinaries, with account of migration routes of the wild water bird species.
He said that the vaccines had been already stocks in necessary amounts by two enterprises involved in the business.
"By vaccinating the poultry we will safeguard the production sector against the virus and will ensure protection of health of the citizens. We hope to keep the situation under control an localize the nidi of the bird infection", the minister said.
