The interest to bell pepper and cucumber production grows in Ukraine

According to the information of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, in 2006 the interest to vegetable production has grown significantly in Ukraine. The farmers were questioned by the specialists of the Agricultural Marketing Project and "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal; about 18% of them will try to grow new vegetable crops this year. One third of the farmers plan to extend vegetable acreage, as they have already produced vegetables before.

According to the estimation done by the analysts of the Agricultural Marketing Project, the interest to cucumber and bell pepper grew most rapidly as compared to the previous year. According to the survey, this year about 29% of the farmers will produce this crop for the first time. 26% of cucumber producers will be newcomers in 2006. Among those who grew these crops past year, one third of the producers will extend cucumber acreage and 26% - pepper acreage.
