Izmail farmers supplied large volumes of early cabbage to Kyiv

Today a rapid increase of early cabbage supply was observed on Kyiv FARMER market. Early cabbage is mainly transported from Odesa oblast. This product costs $3.13/kg in small wholesale. The farmers of Izmail, the far southern rayon of Odesa oblast, specialize on early vegetables production. More than a week ago they supplied first shipments of early cabbage to Odesa supermarkets. This season the weather doesn't support greenhouse producers much; still they have been able to supply cabbage a week earlier than in 2005. Past year first large lots entered the market only mid April.

Active supplies and declining price on early cabbage will press the cabbage prices of past year harvest. We can expect that the remnants of cabbage 2005 will be soon uploaded out of storages; the price can go down consequently.
