Early vegetable prices are much higher than 2005 prices in the capital of AR Crimea

According to the data of the retail price monitoring on Simferopol retail markets, the prices for early vegetables are significantly higher than the prices in the same period of time in 2005. The Market Information Specialists of the Agricultural Marketing Project inform "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal that, for example, early cabbage price exceeds the 2005 prices nearly twice ($3.95/kg nowadays versus $1.96/kg past year), cucumbers cost $0.78/kg more this year.

A broad variety of vegetable commodities is present only on Simferopol markets and in the nearby rayons. The journalists of "Northern Tavrida" newspaper report only about "borsch" vegetables and potato present on Steppe Crimea markets. It's very difficult to find cucumber, tomato, radish, fresh herbs there. The reason for it is a low purchasing capacity of the local consumers, and also large transportation expenses needed to deliver small shipments of early produce to the remote rayons of AR Crimea.
