Excessive supply of early white cabbage is observed on Poltava market

According to information provided by Yuri Konyaev, the Market Information Specialist of Poltava office, Agricultural Marketing Project, an excessive supply of early white cabbage is observed in the region. The produce is mainly supplied from the South of Ukraine. In particular, early cabbage is supplied from AR Crimea where the price for large wholesale shipments fluctuates within $0.04-0.05/kg, according to information provided by wholesalers. It is worth mentioning that, as to the wholesale price monitoring of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, the higher price starting from $0.09/kg is recorded.

Wholesalers sell cabbage for $0.09-0.11/kg. Since June 14th early cabbage of local origin has started to enter the market. The produce is partially supplied from Cherkasy oblast.

Active supplies of early cabbage caused intensive market flooding. Wholesale and retail prices decreased 30-40% during past week. Comparing to previous season, the retail price for early white cabbage is twice as low in the oblast.
