Poltava potato producers hope for a good harvest this season

According to information provided by large potato producers in Poltava oblast, there are favorable weather conditions observed now for potato growth. Soil is well moistened, so the plants are vegetating well. If the weather is favorable, the producers expect to get harvest around 400-430 centners/ha due to use of quality seed materials. It will probably be not worse than in 2005. Past year was quite successful for potato producers in Poltava oblast unlike for farms in other oblasts of Ukraine.

The only thing that threatens producers is the possibility of further rainfalls. They are able to cause wide spread of potato blight.

It is worth mentioning that potato acreage increased 25% in the oblast; so the forecast of AMP specialists has been justified.
