Pyryatyn cannery focuses attention on canning-pea production

In 2005 Pyryatyn cannery (PYRYATYNAGROCONSERV LLC) jointly with the Agricultural Marketing Project implemented "Green Wave" project: it was the first pilot program focused on canning-pea production. As a result, the enterprise purchased around 570 tons of raw materials; the processed commodities were sold under trademark FURSHET and own trademark PYRYATYNAGROCONSERV in retail chains in Kyiv and Poltava cities.

Unlike many other processing enterprises in the oblast, Pyryatyn cannery does not stake on cucumber. The enterprise needs only 100 tons of cucumber; other oblast canneries would like to process 500-700 tons of this commodity. The main emphasis is made on green pea production and canning. It is worth mentioning that the interest for this crop is not occasional.

Green pea is a liquidity position on canning market; it is a historically formed working direction for the enterprise. Not long ago the enterprise specialized on green pea processing; it had one of the most advanced and powerful processing lines of Hungarian origin. After reconstruction and production revival the plant paid special attention to this position. In 2006 the cannery increased 30% the order for this raw material; now it is planned to purchase 800 tons of green pea. And, green pea growing process moved to a qualitatively new level - the producers started utilizing green pea conveyer in order to optimize the load of processing capacities and to control raw material supply for the certain period of time. Mr. Redko, the Director of Pyryatyn cannery, says the enterprise will continue increasing volumes of green pea production; there are plans to produce and process sweet corn as well.
