Purchase prices for wild blueberry and blackberry have grown 3-4 fold during two years in Ukraine

According to information of the Agricultural Marketing Project, the purchase prices for wild berries have beaten all the records this year in Ukraine. For example, purchase price for blueberry reached $3.13-3.33/kg. Past year price did not exceed the level $1.56-1.96/kg. The purchase price for blackberry was up to $0.78/kg in 2005.

It is worth pointing out that two years ago consumers used to buy blackberry for $0.19/kg and blackberry for $1.17/kg. So, wild berries have grown two-threefold expensive during two years in Ukraine. The price growth was not so rapid on world market; however, as a result of reduced supply of berries the prices have grown rather significantly this year in Europe. Blueberry was purchased for EUR2.2/kg in 2005, for EUR3-3.2/kg in 2006 in the EU countries.

You can find the purchasers and suppliers of vegetables, fruits and berries during the third international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2006. Open market". Not less than 100 foreign companies will participate in the event. In connection with the increased produce supplies from Ukraine in 2006, the representatives of large wholesale companies show their interest to the event. They are from Holland, Poland, Russia, Baltic countries and other EU and Easter Europe countries.
