Moldova: Imported Cane Sugar to Be Imposed 25% Duty
Raw cane sugar imported to Moldova may be imposed with duty, equaling 25% of the value of shipment, says Deputy Minister of Economy Marian Lupu, quoted by Oreanda agency. Lupu also maintains that there is probability imported cane sugar destined for further re-export is charged with VAT, refunded before taking finished product out of the country. The purpose of the measures is to make deliveries of cane sugar to Ukraine unprofitable. Moldovan sugar manufacturers are seeking support from Russia to acquire privileged access to Russian market to compensate possible losses.
