Zakarpattya farmers observe low quality of potato harvest

A major part of potato harvest is affected by rot, according to information provided by Zakarpattya office of the Agricultural Marketing Project to "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal. Some producers even inform that they gave up potato harvesting because of a high percentage of rot-affected tubers. At the same time, no information about potato losses has come yet from the leading farms in the region.

We'll point out that Zakarpattya oblast produces less than 3% of gross production of late potato in Ukraine. The region purchases potato from the other oblasts even in the yielding years. That's why the decrease of gross potato harvest in Zakarpattya oblast will insignificantly influence market situation, and it will not change much the potato price in the region.
