One more country takes interest in the opportunities of onion, carrot and potato import from Ukraine

The monitoring of the retail ad wholesale prices for produce is conducted by AgVANTAGE project jointly with the "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly journal in Georgia. The results of the monitoring show that the excessive stocks of onion in the vegetable storages of Ukrainian producers and wholesalers are able to find the buyers in Georgia.

An average wholesale price for bulb onion is $0.33-0.37/kg on the wholesale markets of Georgia at the present moment. It is possible to buy the wholesale shipments of quality onion for $0.15-0.17/kg in Ukraine. If we take into consideration the fact of the tariff free trade regime is in effect between Georgia and Ukraine, the supplies of this product to Georgia can be quite profitable. The interest for such shipments is real because the suppliers of Georgian fresh herbs to Ukrainian market can use this opportunity in order to increase the efficiency of the transport utilization. They are able to load vehicles with inexpensive and quality Ukrainian onion on the way back.

In addition to onion, Georgian buyers can be interested in Ukrainian potato (the wholesale price in $0.39-0.43/kg in Georgia). Carrot can be even a more interesting exporting item from Ukraine to Georgia; this product costs in average thrice as expensive in Georgia comparing to Ukraine. The wholesale price for carrot is fluctuating $0.37-0.52/kg; it is possible to buy the wholesale shipment of carrot for $0.13/kg in Ukraine. Table beet also costs significantly more expensive in Georgia than in Ukraine: $0.47-0.62/kg.
